Mission Statement
16000children is an organization dedicated to combatting childhood hunger and the myriad of issues that surround it such as unsanitary living conditions, inadequate medical care and child exploitation. We are a 501(c)3 Non Profit organization made up of artists, musicians and filmmakers who seek to raise awareness and funds for the 16,000 children who die of hunger and hunger related illnesses in the world every day.
As artists we believe in the power of music and the arts to deeply affect people's mindsets and facilitate spiritual development. By reaching a wide audience of people we are able to create a global network of like-minded individuals who share the common goal of eliminating childhood hunger.
16000children organizes performances to raise funds for partner charities which are chosen based on the shared vision of eradicating the unacceptable suffering of millions of children around the world. We believe in a 'grassroots' approach: discovering where the most severe need exists and joining together with local charities to stretch our donations as widely as possible, making the most of each contribution. Each year we also partner with larger charities (for the year 2010 we are partnering with Savethechildren's program "Everyone", a program that plans to cut by two-thirds the number of children under five who are dying of easily preventable illnesses), so that all funds collected can reach the most needy children.
